The Pentagon Wants To Be Your My Space Buddy

I know that you should never put anything on the internet you don't want on the 6:00 news...but that's usually a rule of thumb designed to keep you from making an ass of yourself and never being able to live down the embarrassment of sending out a "reply all" when you meant it to go to a trusted friend who already knows you're an ass.

Or blogging when you are drunk.

Now, just when you thought it couldn't get worse than the NSA wiretaps on your phone, you have to worry about having even more of your tax dollars used against you and your attempts to make virtual friends.

According to a recent article in New Scientist Technology, the Pentagon is gathering, storing, and analyzing data from social networking sites in order to create a more detailed impression of...everyone. Follow the link and read the whole story.

Check it out, and be afraid. And if you helped vote in this era of agressive avoidance of oversight and reduction in privacy in the name of preserving freedom....I hope they get you first.

Can you buy a computer with a breathalizer to prevent the drunken blogging? I would be VERY interested in such an apparatus.
